Multipurpose Building II

This building, inaugurated in 1993, houses various offices of the Government of the Canary Islands Autonomous Community, as a complement to Multipurpose Building I, located on Avenida de Anaga, which had become too small to accommodate all the administrative departments of the regional Government.

"Multipurpose II", as it is popularly known, is located at the junction of José Manuel Guimerá Street with the start of Avenida Tres de Mayo. It was designed in 1989 by architects María Isabel Correa and Diego Estévez.

On the outside, the square base of its floor plan is structurally and formally reinforced at its corners, three of them adopting the appearance of turrets, the fourth projecting outside the perimeter and emphasised with a cylinder. Its entire façade radiates a functional and modern image through the use of glass and very pronounced parallel lines.

Inside, a central triangular courtyard arranges the most common and collective workspaces, leaving the perimeter for individual offices.
