The Potato Farmer

This monument, located in the El Sobradillo neighbourhood, is the work of the artist from La Palma, Medín Martín, and was inaugurated on 15 July 2004.

The work, made in the Bonzo Workshops of La Laguna, stands on a small pedestal and represents, with some hieratic style, the figure of a farmer in his work clothes with hat and digging stick; beside him a basket full of potatoes shows us the result of his effort. Everything is framed within the deepest roots of the Canarian rural tradition, very much in harmony with the surroundings.
