Panasco Inn
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Memory · Subcategory: Sites of memory · Year: S. XIX
On the site where the Olympo building now stands, and where the old Hotel Orotava previously stood, there was, from the first half of the 19th century, an inn called Panasco, one of the most famous guesthouses in Santa Cruz at the time.
The establishment offered lodging and food in a magnificent three-storey Canarian-style building. The inn did not have great luxuries, but customers, especially foreigners disembarking at the nearby port, recommended it for its comfort and good service.
The Panasco Inn operated until the early 20th century, when in 1904 it was transformed into the Hotel Orotava, an establishment with greater ambitions that adapted to an emerging tourism market demanding a different type of service.
