The Club Náutico

The long time lapse that makes up the move of former Club Náutico, set on the north side of the Santa Catalina Harbour, to the present day construction by Manuel de la Peña, goes through a variety of phases, but always with the idea that the best site would be by Las Alcaravaneras Beach, at the rear of the municipal workshops, which occupied the southern side next to the naval base.

[...] During the next few phases of the project, the houses there were finally knocked down, while the club building was built out towards the street taking up a rectangular prism comprising four gateways and ten centre lines with the odd little side structure and even a tower. What does come through clearly in all its variants is that the architect is in no doubt as to what aesthetic design he wants to portray: staking out the pillars and slabs and covering the openings with large glass panels.

The latest focus of the project requires a new floor to be built in order to complete the social facilities, and this is to be duly carried out on this plot. The whole project is now taking shape and will undoubtedly be a definitive solution once work has been completed.
