Brigantium Building

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Civil architecture · Year: 2005 · Authors: Manuel Feo

Interesting restoration of an old building designed by architect Laureano Arroyo at the end of the 19th century in the heart of the Triana area. It was rehabilitated in 2005 by architect Manuel Feo, proposing an intelligent adaptation that dialogues with the past in a natural way. The restoration project was awarded the Oraá architecture prize in its 12th edition (2004-2005).

The respect for the old façade establishes an interesting link with the interior structure, in which three floors rise above the original cornice, recalling the historic geometry of the houses in the area, although now adjusted to current needs.

This is a respectful interpretation of the past, where reconstruction and reinvention go hand in hand through a modern language.
