Grevilla Building

Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Civil architecture · Year: 1983 · Authors: Fernando Machado Carrillo, José Pascual Arias, Fernando Bercedo Franquet

Located in the upper boundary area of La Granja Park, the Grevilla building was designed in 1982 by architects Fernando Machado, José Pascual and Fernando Bercedo.

The construction has strong reminiscences of rationalist architecture, widely practiced in the city at the end of the 1920s and throughout the 1930s. We say this because of the formal elements presented by the building: simplicity of forms, geometric bodies, elongated windows, exposed concrete columns, white tubular railings, circular openings, balconies and terraces of great depth, etc.

The Grevilla building, completed in 1983, with its symmetrical façade and all its formal elements typical of a “neo-rationalism”, follows the paths of expressive architectural modernity.
