Izquierdo Building

Built on a plot located between Dr. Allart, Nicolás Estévanez and Clavel streets, in the heart of the historic centre, this rationalist typology building was designed in 1935 by the architect Marrero Regalado for the owner Eduardo Izquierdo.

The building programme consists of five floors: the ground floor for commercial use and the remaining ones for housing. The façade is characterised, like other creations by Marrero during this time, by a composition with a marked horizontal tendency, where the use of cantilevered balconies stands out on the chamfer, and continuous grouped openings on the rest.

Marrero presented a careful interior design (now disappeared) for the commercial premises on the ground floor, with elaborate elements very much in the architect's aesthetic.
