This sculpture was created by the artist María Belén Morales and placed in 1999 on the section of the ravine known as Avenida Reyes Católicos. Although its original name is Ida , the subtitle by which the work is known is In memory of those who suffered persecution, imprisonment and death in the "Faife" (Fyffe) penal colony , as it is a tribute to the prisoners of the Fyffes concentration camp, a place of internment for opponents of Franco after the outbreak of the Civil War, which was located very close to where the sculpture stands today.

Ida is made on a concrete base and is developed through a figure composed of three pieces of marked geometry that remain in balance thanks to the interaction of one with the others. There are two elements of great verticality, of which only one acts as the main piece, the other being held back in its fall by a metal structure with sharp vertices.

The work was commissioned by the Montessori School from María Belén Morales, an artist whose constant research in sculptural matters and in her own plastic language makes her one of the most important figures in contemporary art in the Canary Islands.
