Cuevas Blancas Mill

This windmill is based on the typical model of this type of building. Conical in shape, it is topped by an irregular cover. On one side is the main shaft that supports the sails and at the other end, a long wooden slat called the rudder. Inside it has a very simple structure formed by a cylinder about 4 metres in diameter divided into three floors or levels. The ground floor is at ground level and was used as a storage room. The first floor, accessed by a symmetrical external staircase, was the waiting room, the place where customers collected the gofio at the mouth of the hopper or cambal. On the second floor is the mill machinery, where the miller worked. The different floors are connected inside the structure by wooden stairs.

This mill was restored at the end of 1974 and declared BIC (Bien de Interés Cultural - Asset of Cultural Interest) at the end of 2007. It has great similarities with its twin in Barranco Grande.
