Llano del Moro Mill

This mill is located on a fairly steep slope descending from the easternmost end of the Cordillera Dorsal - Montaña de las Carboneras - towards the south-eastern coast of the island, at about 585 metres above sea level, on the borders of the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

This ethnographic complex consists of two notable structures: on the one hand, the mill itself and, on the other, an annexed building known as the "miller's house". The first is a conical-shaped construction with thick masonry walls, made up of irregular basalt blocks, small stones and mortar of earth, lime and sand. Part of the plaster that coated both its interior and exterior is still preserved. The façade has two openings, the first corresponding to the access door and the second to a high window, both with wooden lintels and jambs. The original roof has disappeared and only part of the interior ceiling remains, while there are no traces of the milling machinery or the sails.

About 10 metres away there is a curious building with a gabled tiled roof and thick unplastered basalt stone walls with two openings. Currently it is impossible to access the interior, although the state of conservation of this construction is quite acceptable. The complex was declared Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC - Asset of Cultural Interest) in May 2005.
