Tensei Tenmoku
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Route · Subcategory: Street sculpture II · Year: 1999 · Authors: Kan Yasuda
This is the only work belonging to the II Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition that is not located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Initially intended to be placed on the Rambla, at the height of Las Tinajas, various factors led to it ending up on the breakwater of the Garachico pier.
Made of white Carrara marble, it is composed of two elements representing large doors or openings of equal dimensions, except that one of the pieces has an added vertical stripe that reinforces its structure.
The slenderness of the structural pair and the immaculate whiteness of the material give the work a delicate appearance wrapped in a mystical aura.
Its location since 1999 on the Garachico pier, a location suggested by the artist himself after the impossibility of placing his work on the Rambla of Santa Cruz, shows that Tensei Tenmoku , that door without a door, is a completely open and passable frame or limit towards the immensity of the Atlantic it faces.
