Former Jet-Foil Maritime Station

The Port Authority established a boarding and disembarking station near the North Dock for passengers using the fast boat known as the "Jet-Foil", which connected Santa Cruz with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This new maritime station was designed in 1988 by the team of architects Antonio Corona, Eustaquio Martínez and Arsenio Pérez.

It is a simple parallelepiped of smooth stone topped by a glossy roof. The building incorporates urban values, such as the central street running through its interior, ingeniously shaded by an aesthetic parasol, or the stone, travertine and black marble panel carvings. They also incorporated elements of maritime tradition such as wooden floors and simple painted tube railings to accommodate at the edge of the quay those transitional elements between the urban and the maritime.

The station was inaugurated in 1991, but currently, following the cessation of the "Jet-Foil" fast boat service, the building has hosted various uses, none related to the original purpose for which it was created.
