Building constructed in 1904 based on the plans of architect Mariano Estanga in Plaza 25 de Julio, also known as Plaza de los Patos, for the Sociedad de Edificaciones y Reformas Urbanas. It shows evident Art Nouveau formulas. The façade facing the square is composed of a tower and a portico that presents an interesting modernist decoration, using wavy lines and the coup de fouet  framing the window mouldings.

As a composition, the building appears agile, offering a rich contrast between its different volumes. Its inspiration is clearly of the elegant villa type so fashionable in this area of the Los Hoteles neighbourhood.

We do not know who its first owner was, but very soon the American Consulate was installed here, until Luis Castelo acquired it in the 1920s.
