Children's Park of the 25th July Deed

This children's space is thematically dedicated to the attack suffered by Santa Cruz in 1797 by the English troops commanded by Rear Admiral Horatio Nelson, a historical event of utmost relevance for the city and known as the Deed of 25th July.

The enclosure was inaugurated in July 2022, on the 225th anniversary of the event, and is located very close to where the most important events of this historical episode took place.

The Children's Park of the Deed covers an area of 2,500 square metres, where around twenty play areas are distributed in which children can carry out numerous recreational activities. There are boats, rowboats, swings, slides, climbing nets, bars, hammocks, a telescope and a compass rose. The theme focuses on the moment when the attempted landing of the invading British forces took place, featuring characteristic elements such as the Castillo de San Cristóbal, the Convento de Santo Domingo (both now disappeared), the Plaza de la Iglesia de La Concepción, the Tigre cannon, etc.; while on the English side we find the representation of the ship Tessheus, the cutter Fox and five boats that were stranded on the coastal beaches.

The idea of creating a children's park of these characteristics was proposed decades ago by the city's official chronicler, Luis Cola, who considered it an entertaining and fun way to teach the little ones what he regarded as the most important historical event of Santa Cruz.
