This square is situated over the mouth of the Santos ravine, between Marítima and Bravo Murillo Avenues. It is flanked by the buildings of the Delegación de Hacienda (Tax Office) and some stations of the electric company.

It was designed by the architect Rubens Henríquez and by plenary agreement in 1991, the City Council gave it the name Europa, according to the words of the mayor at that time "due to the great connection the city has had throughout its history with the Old Continent".

At its centre stands a magnificent sculpture by the Gran Canarian artist Martín Chirino (1925-2019).
