Mural of Nelson's Attack on Tenerife

Located at the mouth of the Tahodio ravine, on a huge wall that closes off the parking lots of the Club Náutico, is this large mural created in 2016 by the Bulgarian artist Stoyko Gagamov.

The work was commissioned by the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and narrates, in almost 68 square metres (15 metres wide and four and a half metres high), the assault that took place on 25 July 1797 by Nelson's fleet in its objective to take Santa Cruz.

Over less than a month the artist composed his creation, which features the enormous portraits of General Gutiérrez, Horatio Nelson and, between them, the image that recreates the battle, based on a painting about the Deed by the painter Esteban Arriaga. 

As a curiosity, we must say that Gagamov is the author of more than 800 portraits of as many characters that can be seen on the breakwater stones located both near the Auditorio de Tenerife and on the coast of the Valleseco and San Andrés neighbourhoods.
