Mural about the Deed of 25 July

Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Art · Subcategory: Urban art · Year: 2016 · Authors: Eduardo Yanes, Ciro Romero, Airam Lázaro, Juan Carlos Castro

The muralists Eduardo Yanes, Ciro Romero, Airam Lázaro and Juan Carlos Castro created this work in mid-2016, located on a wall that joins the end of the Serrador bridge with Miraflores street, a wall that closes off at height a plot on La Noria street which currently serves as a car park.

This urban painting reflects several scenes of the invasion of the British troops to the capital in July 1797 under the command of Rear Admiral Horatio Nelson. The chosen area is very close to Isla de la Madera square, the place where the old Dominican convent was located, in which the English invaders took refuge after being besieged by the local forces. The aim of this artistic initiative was to improve the appearance and provide greater colour to an area of the city that had become degraded in landscape terms in recent years.
