Patriotism Square

In 1820, Patriotism Square was a small square almost undeveloped, formed around the water jet or public fountain that supplied this part of the population. The open space was created by the union of the final sections of Norte Street (today Valentín Sanz) and San Roque Street (today Suárez Guerra).

Years later, some houses were built nearby, which prompted the necessary intervention of the municipality in order to achieve better alignment. The connection of Valentín Sanz and La Rosa streets, and the widening of Emilio Calzadilla, considerably affected its appearance, giving it an irregular shape.
