La Católica was one of the numerous printing businesses that emerged in Las Palmas during the height of the Bourbon Restoration.

This printing house began its journey in 1886, first with a workshop on San Ildefonso Street (now Luis Millares Cubas) number 3, later moving to Plaza de Santa Ana. It was always closely linked to the Cathedral, hence its name. It was responsible for publishing the Boletín Eclesiástico de Canarias.

Its main promoter was Antonio Cabrera Quintana, a printer who had already worked a few years earlier in charge of “La Atlántida,” one of the leading printing houses in Las Palmas at that time.
