La Tinerfeña Tobacco Factory

The tobacco factory "La Tinerfeña" was founded, according to the inscription on the façade, in 1880. We do not know its first location, but the current building is the result of the renovation of an 18th-century house of which only the main gate facing the Plaza de la Iglesia remains. The renovated building was designed around 1920 by the architect Otilio Arroyo for the tobacco entrepreneur Manuel Herrera Hernández.

It is a very spare composition in form and simple in its configuration. The façade presents itself as a single unit, only highlighting the curved crowning intended to place an advertising space for the company.

In 1931 the owner proposed to add another floor to the building in order to locate new tobacco drying rooms. Arroyo gave the new work a more broken profile, but without losing its unitary style.

Today, after many years in a state of absolute abandonment, it houses a bingo hall on its ground floor; the rest are dwellings.
