Mural tribute to trumpeter Nilo Caparrosa

This huge mural is dedicated to the trumpeter of Dominican origin Nilo Caparrosa (1957-2021), a musician who for nearly a decade entertained all passers-by on Calle del Castillo, in the very place where the mural now stands, with his performances.
The work was promoted by the Department of Culture of the Santa Cruz City Council and created in just ten days in August 2021 by the urban artist known as Sabotaje al Montaje.
It is a huge intervention, 16 metres high and almost six wide, on a side wall of a modernist building on the central street, very close to the junction with Valent n Sanz. In the mural we can see, with the colourful style so characteristic of Sabotaje al Montaje's work, two images of the beloved and popular trumpeter in full street performance.
The work is accompanied by a poster with a short text remembering Nilo Caparrosa, who is seen as an emblem of all the good street musicians who offer their music to all those who walk the streets of Santa Cruz.
