Tenique 01

Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Art · Subcategory: Urban art · Year: 2019 · Authors: Sabotaje al montaje

In March 2019, the project called Tenique began with the creation of this mural located on Calle Tadorna in Barranco Grande, a participatory experience promoted by CoordiCanarias (Coordinator of People with Physical Disabilities of the Canary Islands) and subsidised by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, whose main function is, through artistic aspects, to transform social reality as much as possible and give visibility to people with disabilities.

The work team that created the mural (school community, neighbourhood associations and the collective of people with disabilities) was led by the urban artist Matías Mata (Sabotaje al Montaje).

The artwork was mainly inspired by the expressiveness, symbolism and important gestures of intertwined hands; from there, it speaks to us about diversity, inclusion and visibility; values that were displayed on the outer wall of CEO Bethencourt y Molina.
