This mural located on the walls enclosing the Las Retamas school in the Ofra neighbourhood was created at the end of 2020 and is the work of the artistic team formed by Matías Mata (Sabotaje al Montaje) and Fran Feo (Feo Flip), both recognised artists of urban culture and creative wall art.
Abstract figures and human anatomies turned into puzzles tell a story of diversity and collectivity. Diverse bodies, a person in a wheelchair or a woman with her fist raised, are some of the images that stand out in this work carried out by the initiative of the Canary Islands Physical Disability Coordinator (Coordicanarias) and subsidised by the Municipal Institute of Social Care (IMAS) of the Santa Cruz City Council.
The mural, in which more than 90 people participated in its conception and creation, including students from the centre and neighbourhood residents, reflects the collective, supportive and welcoming spirit of the human species, with clear evidence of vernacular and African art.
