Tenique 02. Mural in El Sobradillo

Matías Mata, better known as Sabotaje al Montaje, and Fran Feo Flip are the authors of this urban artistic intervention inaugurated in February 2020. It is located on a large wall of a building in the El Sobradillo neighbourhood. The mural was part of the second edition of the Tenique project, funded by the Santa Cruz City Council and developed by the Coordinadora de Personas con Discapacidad Física de Canarias (Coordi Canarias) (Coordinator of People with Physical Disabilities of the Canary Islands).

The work was born after a long four-month process during which several workshops were held with the participation of many people, especially students from local schools. 

This work aimed, on the one hand, to raise awareness among the population about the difficulties faced by people with disabilities, and on the other, to denounce various important urban issues (General Urban Plan, telephone antennas placed in inappropriate locations, evictions, etc.). The word "dignity" runs throughout the mural, giving it a profound background of social commitment.   

The place where this graphic work is located was completely renewed after the intervention, with the environment acquiring an environmental quality it previously lacked.
