The Torres de Santa Cruz, as the residential complex consisting of two large buildings located in the Cabo-Llanos area is called, were designed by the Tenerife architect Julián Valladares at the beginning of the 21st century.

The complex consists of two twin skyscrapers of 34 floors reaching up to 120 metres in height. The ground floor was allocated for commercial use, the first for offices and the remaining floors to house 272 dwellings with 1 to 5 bedrooms and duplexes with 4 to 6 bedrooms for exclusively residential use. The buildings also have five underground floors intended for garages and a water tank.

The first works for their construction began in 2001, but after the attacks suffered at the World Trade Center in New York, the construction project of the twin skyscrapers of Santa Cruz was halted for some years. Tower I, located further south, was the first to be built, completed in 2004; Tower II, the northernmost, was finished in 2006.

The Torres de Santa Cruz is the tallest construction complex not only in the city of Santa Cruz but in all the Canary Islands. Today these buildings are a symbol of the economic drive experienced by the city at the beginning of this century and of its expansion towards the land freed by the Refinery.
