Viñátigo of Monte de Aguirre

This impressive specimen of viñátigo ( Persea indica ) is located in Monte de Aguirre, at 765 metres above sea level, in the heart of the Anaga Rural Park, very close to the mouth of a water gallery called El Río, from where the city of Santa Cruz was supplied for many years.

This tree is one of the most representative of the laurel forest and is distinguished by its enormous size. It has a main trunk of more than 5 metres and a total height of more than 15. Its state of conservation is quite acceptable, being installed on a mound of earth with some roots exposed to the air.
