Hollies ( Ilex canariensis ) can be considered one of the most common trees in the Canary Islands' mountains, especially on the western islands. They have their optimal development in laurel forest woods.

It is in this environment where we find this specimen located at 710 metres altitude, in the heart of Monte de Aguirre, within the very interesting Anaga Rural Park. The holly reaches a height of 15 metres and a perimeter of more than 5 in total. The main trunk appears dead, but one of the branches is alive. This trunk has a perimeter of 140 cm, with six suckers observed emerging from its base forming a cage of approximately 67 cm perimeter each, along with numerous smaller suckers.
