Catcisa

Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Industrial architecture · Year: 1956 · Authors: Luis Cabrera y Sánchez-Real

This building of clear commercial character was designed in 1952 by the architect Luis Cabrera for the company Crdito Agrcola Comercial e Industrial de Tenerife, S.A. (CATCISA).

The property is located between Avenida de Anaga and Calle de La Marina, with the architect diligently solving the pronounced change in level between the two streets.

The façades facing both streets are clearly uniform and geometric, with wide overhangs and balconies enclosed by pipe railings, separated by curious latticework. The parapet, barely visible from the street as it is recessed, is painted a different colour from the rest, creating an imaginative play of shadows and light.

Inside, the building has open-plan space on each floor for use adaptable to any layout: offices, residences, and apartments.

Inaugurated in 1956, this work was one of the first high-rise constructions built in this area of the seafront of Santa Cruz.
