Las Mesetas Water Reservoir

The project for the construction of a regulating reservoir on the Pino de Oro estate, chosen for its proximity to the channels coming from the Anaga summit, dates back to 1882. It was then that a municipal commission commissioned the then municipal architect, Manuel de Oráa, to design a hydraulic infrastructure to collect the waters coming from the springs and distribute them to the various fountains and basins of the city. But the project did not proceed due to lack of funds.

It was not until 1911 that, with the help of the Military Headquarters, a reservoir was established on an existing plateau in the area known as La Meseta, at the top of one of the slopes of the Ancheta ravine, accessible from the Lavaderos neighbourhood.

Enlarged and refurbished decades ago, the Las Mesetas reservoir, after having been abandoned for a long time, currently has a capacity to store 6,000 cubic metres of water.
