Mural of CEIP Tomé Cano
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Art · Subcategory: Urban art · Year: 2017 · Authors: Iker Muro
This urban mural was created in March 2017 under the auspices of the Immerse Yourself in Santa Cruz series, an initiative through which Fundación Cepsa, in collaboration with the Santa Cruz City Council, has beautified various urban areas of the capital with different murals.
On this occasion, the chosen location was the exterior wall and entrance of CEIP Tomé Cano, on its facade on Legazpi Street. The mural extends along 60 metres, although its most representative section is at the school entrance. There, geometric motifs, vertical bands and black polka dots combine with other brighter and more striking colours.
The work to create this piece was undertaken as part of a corporate volunteering activity involving sixth-grade primary students from the school, parents, teachers and volunteers in general. In total, a group of more than forty people, all following the aesthetic concepts and coordinated by the urban artist Iker Muro.
The result is a pleasant, colourful and relaxed vision of a space where education and citizenship join hands to improve an urban area.
