Mural on the Exterior Enclosure of the Refinery
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Art · Subcategory: Urban art · Year: 2012 · Authors: Iker Muro
The artist Iker Muro created this mural in 2012, located on one of the closing walls of the Santa Cruz Refinery facilities. This intervention in the field of urban art marked the starting point of a beautification project at the entrances to the capital.
The panel was made on galvanized steel sheets during the 1st Urban Art Festival Expresarte, held that year in 2012. The work, sponsored by the company Cepsa and other companies, consists of an artistic representation of the island's seabeds, standing out for the rich range of colours it contains. The artist was inspired by Japanese seascapes and in his own words defined his creation as “a skyline of the city, which is hinted at in the background, wrapped in lights and in all the marine imagery that arises while I paint”.
