Rationalist Route I - 06 Residential Building and Parque Hotel

In 1932, businessman Bruno Naranjo commissioned architect Miguel Martín Fernández de la Torre to develop a project for a huge residential building to be located near the Parque de San Telmo. Once construction began, the architect suggested a curious combination of uses for the building: residential towers on the sides; a hotel occupying the central core.

The enormous construction took almost nine years to complete, and in it we can observe the rationalist spirit of the new architecture that Miguel Martín had set out to establish. Notable here are the play of volumes, the alternation of cantilevered and enclosed bodies, the terraces, and the ingenious solution given to the corners facing Muelle de Las Palmas street, the route that separates it from Parque de San Telmo.

Known at the time as "La casa de don Bruno," this building, when constructed, became the tallest, most avant-garde, and representative building of a city aspiring to enter modernity. Except for some transformations made over the years, the residential building and Parque Hotel maintain their original appearance.
