This work of sophisticated simplicity, whose project was signed by Miguel Martín Fernández de La Torre in February 1933, is a clear example that synthesises the models of single-family architecture of rationalist typology. With a marked horizontal sense and a spacious spatial distribution inside its three floors, it was built as a private residence for Diego Vega Sarmiento.

It is located in Tafira Alta, on a steep street, with magnificent views both of the surrounding mountain and of the city of Las Palmas with the sea in the background. The slope was used to resolve the main body in three slightly staggered heights through the development of terraces resting on cantilevered slabs, presenting successive setbacks. The openings, different from each other, are presented according to their function and very contrasted in their position and compositional role. We highlight the care of the exterior details such as angled carpentry, stairs, railings, enclosures, etc.

Inside the house, the clarity and efficiency in its organisation must be emphasised, as well as the care given to the interior designs and finishes, with furniture and fittings designed by the architect himself.

The Vega chalet presents itself as a magnificent example of the best rationalist architecture carried out in the Canary Islands.
