Rationalist Route I - 09 Casa Galbán
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria · Category: Routes · Subcategory: Rationalism route · Year: 1932 · Authors: Miguel Martín-Fernández de la Torre
Small building designed by Miguel Martín Fernández de la Torre in 1932 for the developer Francisco Galbán to be built on Bravo Murillo Street.
It is a simple construction of rationalist typology where the façade stands out for a low first body covered with local stone masonry, in which two large openings (door-window) and a small oculus are set. The rest of the exterior is characterised by its horizontality, highlighting the concrete visors, the asymmetry in the arrangement of the openings, the sparseness in ornamentation and, above all, the enclosures with tubular railings.
Pure rationalism: simplicity and functionality.
