Casa Richardson Armas

Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Civil architecture · Year: 1904 · Authors: Mariano Estanga

Located in the heart of the Barrio de los Hoteles, on Calle Jess y Mara, this building was designed by Mariano Estanga in 1904 for the owner Arturo Richardson Armas as his private residence.

Built under the premises of eclecticism, so fashionable at that time, Estanga proposed a rectangular-plan building with two projecting blocks at the ends and a recessed central one, topped by a pavilion. It also features a porch supported by an elegant colonnade.

The interior is arranged through a very successful axial plan, with intercommunication and coordination of spaces. Everything is very simple but, at the same time, very practical, something very unusual in this type of building, where the exterior appearance predominated above all else.
