Quintero House

Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Civil architecture · Year: 1905 · Authors: Mariano Estanga

This building located in the heart of the Los Hoteles neighbourhood and designed by architect Mariano Estanga in 1905 for the owner Manuel Quintero García represents a considerable advance towards the architectural revolution of the early 20th century in Santa Cruz. It not only brings the splendour of Modernism, with its high decorative factor, but also seeks expressive function, both in form and space.

The decorative repertoire covers the entire ornamental spectrum of Art Nouveau, from the coup de fouet,  through the varied range of floral types with marked French influence, to the extraordinary crowning of the corner tower. Regarding the house’s configuration, the work offers an agility of volumes that the architect knew how to exploit in all its possibilities.
