Morán House

This house was designed in 1928 by the architect Pelayo López for the owner Salvador Morán in what was then known as the future extension of the Galcerán bridge, which was still under construction at that time.  

The building, clearly regionalist in style, appeared in Santa Cruz when the eclecticism of architects such as Pintor and Pisaca was already waning and the rationalism of Miguel Martín, Marrero or Blasco was beginning to emerge.  

The Morán house, which apparently is based on the prototype of traditional historic Canarian constructions with its wooden balconies and tiled roof, adopts interior solutions appropriate to the era in which it was designed: cloistered courtyard and spacious rooms equipped with the latest advances in construction at the time.    

The building has been part of the La Salle de San Ildefonso school headquarters since 1941, when the Brothers of the Christian Schools settled here, in this property that has undergone numerous renovations. Additions, extensions and new roofs have significantly transformed the original construction.
