Casa Palazón
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Civil architecture · Year: 1935 · Authors: José Enrique Marrero Regalado
This single-family house in rationalist style was designed in 1934 by the architect José Enrique Marrero Regalado for Rosa Palazón, widow of Díaz.
Located on the Rambla, right at the corner of Los Lavaderos street, it was built after a long series of preliminary projects. In the final one, its author sought to highlight the magnificent location of this elevated plot in relation to the level of the Rambla, which at that stretch was barely urbanised at that time.
The building has three floors, with two towers that stand out in height linked by large terraces. The house was later extended at the rear, removing other terraces facing north. Very interesting is the introduction of curved elements in the design of corner window-bay openings. Also notable is the wrought ironwork that closes the upper central terrace.
