The Cine Moderno was located on San Sebastián street. Its promoter was Manuel Rasco, who commissioned architect Domingo Pisaca during the Spanish post-war period to direct the project for the construction of a cinema. It was inaugurated on 11 August 1944 as an open-air cinema, although it was later covered.

Its simple and harmonious rationalist-style façade had the particular feature that access to the stalls was through a curious covered porch with stairs. Its interior lacked a foyer and a mezzanine. It had a capacity of 340 spectators.

For years it also served, like many other cinema venues, to host boxing matches, cockfights, dances and other social events. 

It is worth noting that films of the calibre of " Callejón sin salida " and " The War of the Worlds " premiered here.

The Cine Moderno closed its doors to the public in 1976 and disappeared definitively to make way for a new residential building with commercial premises.
