This multifamily residential building located on a side of García Sanabria park, on Dr. José Naveiras street, was designed by architect José Blasco in 1934 for the owner, intellectual and poet Matías Real González.

We are facing a three-storey building that masterfully resolves the unification of two contiguous housing units through a single façade with clear connotations of rationalist typology.

The exterior appearance of the building develops horizontally along the street, contrasting, in turn, a superimposed cantilevered plane, which creates a suggestive volumetric play. Among other aspects, we can highlight the careful distribution of the openings and, especially, the balconies enclosed by an interesting system of blinds.

Straight and orderly lines give the façade great harmony and composition, with any type of superficial ornamentation being unnecessary.

Inside, the construction has two courtyards designed with the clear objective of providing ventilation and lighting. The entrances from the street lead to vestibules from which the stairs to the upper floors start, the distribution area of the dwellings. 

This building maintains an appearance of striking modernity despite the years passed since its construction. A true classic of the rationalist architecture of Santa Cruz.
