Fernández Building

This building was designed in 1937 by the architect José Blasco for the then president of the Colegio de Farmacéuticos (Pharmacists' Association), Cecilio Fernández, as private residences, laboratory, and offices.

The aesthetic of the work fits within the canons of rationalism: neatness and sobriety in forms, predominance of straight lines, and spatial functionality. 

A base, occupied by a basement intended to house a laboratory and a first floor for office and administration, supports two more floors dedicated to residences. Above the garage roof there is a large terrace. On the façade facing the street, a central axis with a vertical glazed band, which provides light to the interior staircase, separates two cantilevered volumes where windows with concrete canopies closed by wooden shutters are developed. 

The lower part of Pérez de Rozas street, with this building and others, all designed by José Blasco, shows us a small catalogue of the most representative works of this great architect.
