Building at Calle Castillo No. 55

This building of marked rationalist typology and mixed use (commercial and residential) may have been designed during the second half of the 1930s by the architect José Blasco, when this professional was very active in the city, leaving us several works of great architectural quality.

This property occupies a rectangular floor plan spanning two different street fronts: Castillo and Inmeldo Serís. The main façade faces Calle del Castillo, where we find a splendid schematic combination of straight lines, predominant in the central axis for the large balconies, with other curved lines on the lateral part of the façade. The metal windows (iron and aluminium) have wooden shutters, a trademark of Blasco. On the ground floor, due to commercial needs, the spaces have undergone some changes, although they retain the original composition.

The building is full of simple design details in the elements and magnificent finishes. We are faced with an example of excellent rationalist architecture. Beauty contained through order and useful details almost imperceptible to the pedestrians who daily wander through this area.
