Cion Building
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Civil architecture · Year: 2001 · Authors: Felipe Artengo Rufino, Fernando Martín Menis, José María Rodríguez-Pastrana
This private residential building was designed by architects Felipe Artengo, Fernando Martín Menis and José Maria Rodríguez-Pastrana.
The proposal, carried out in 2001, is a party-wall construction whose façade is developed through large coloured concrete panels located between slabs, leaving gaps of different sizes between them that illuminate and ventilate the interior spaces. On the ground floor, the building is set back to facilitate vehicle access to the garage.
Inside, a small glazed light courtyard with tempered glass naturally illuminates and ventilates the interior rooms of the housing units.
The building is a simple construction in which the materials used (exposed coloured concrete, wood and chasnera stone) are combined in an appropriate and simple way.
