Costa Sur Building

The Costa Sur building is one of the most interesting constructions erected in the Cabo-Llanos area, a place of urban expansion in Santa Cruz following the release of land by the Refinery at the beginning of the 1990s.  

Designed in 2002 by architects Javier Díaz-Llanos and Vicente Saavedra, the Costa Sur building sits on a large triangular plot and its construction is configured through a basal body from which three vertical structures emerge, located at the outer limits of the plot, leaving a large central block courtyard with vegetation, a space that favours excellent conditions of spaciousness and brightness.

The continuous lower body with a façade clad in reddish stone houses garages, commercial premises and offices. The rest of the building, five storeys high, is dedicated to housing and has an exterior treatment completely different from the lower body; here the light-coloured cladding stands out, playing with wooden shutters and terraces. 

Completed in 2004, the Costa Sur building, with its triangular plan, its distinctive base, its three vertical bodies and its central block courtyard open to the street in three sections, is configured as an excellent architectural work that defines the space where it stands.
