This mural located on Santiago Street, in the well-known El Toscal neighbourhood, is the work of Tenerife artist Ione Domínguez. Created in 2016, it is part of the 'Dive into Santa Cruz' project sponsored by the company Cepsa, which aims to beautify walls and building façades in the Tenerife capital through urban art, adding value to city spaces in an effort to create an open-air artistic route. 

The artist himself defines this mural as “an allegory of everyday spaces and transit places, through music, featuring a violinist immersed in a sea of emotions, both melancholic and joyful.” “The furniture and plants come to life, dancing and listening to the music emitted by the violin, thus escaping the static nature of cold and luxurious homes. The windows represent, besides a home space, the ability to teach seeing, something fundamental to understanding urban art and the collective imagination.”

Ione Domínguez has a long career painting in the street. He combines acrylic paint and spray intuitively, mastering stains perfectly and using colour, rollers, and brushes in a gestural way, developing a style that could be classified as post-impressionist.

This work is located on a high wall closing one side of building number 20 on Santiago Street, in the central El Toscal neighbourhood. The homeowners’ association agreed willingly to beautify this exposed façade, which is adjacent to the well-preserved Santa Marta citadel, a vestige of a type of popular housing that proliferated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in this area of the city.
