Mural in the La Salle Area
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Art · Subcategory: Urban art · Year: 2018 · Authors: Airán de León, Iker Muro
This large colourful mural was created in 2018 by artists Airán de León and Iker Muro as part of the "Sumérgete en Santa Cruz" (Immerse Yourself in Santa Cruz) programme, an initiative promoted by the Fundación Cepsa (Cepsa Foundation) in its effort to provide artistic and cultural content to neglected or aesthetically lacking party walls in the capital of Tenerife.
Located near the La Salle school, the work, covering more than 300 square metres, has as its main theme toys and childhood. Particularly striking is the figure of a large diabolo that takes us back to old toys and a very different way of playing from today. With a striking explosion of colours, the mural presents itself as a huge collage of textures and movements, dynamically combining its intertwined shapes.
The artistic intervention constitutes a colourful tribute to the universe of toys and childhood, naturally adapting to the surrounding urban space, dominated by the presence and proximity of the La Salle educational centre.
