Punta de la Vista Battery
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Military architecture · Year: 1942
Located in the southern part of Hoya Fría, about 150 metres above sea level, very close to what later became the garages of the military base, this battery was established as a consequence of the threat of Allied invasion during the Second World War.
Its construction was approved in August 1941 and a year later it already had three artillery pieces, a 4-metre base horizontal stereoscopic rangefinder, a direction firing corrector, a drift and range predictor, a device for obtaining ballistic wind and a distance clock and impact indicator. For night firing, it also had a projector.
In the early 1960s, twenty years after its installation, it was disarmed, with the land it occupied remaining within the limits of the Hoya Fría military enclosure.
