Fariña Building

This rationalist-style building was designed by the architect Domingo Pisaca for José Fariña in December 1935. It is located at the corner of Teobaldo Power and Pérez Galdós streets, in the very city centre.

The building, tall for that time in the city, had the first two floors intended to house a clinic, another for the owner's residence, and the top three for rental.

Pisaca was inspired by the scheme he himself devised for another building being erected at that time on the corner of the street now called del Amor (formerly General Moscardó) with 25 de Julio for La Sociedad Cooperativa de Producción de Tenerife. It has the same corner opening arrangement with a blind base and crowning, the same cantilevered balconies on the chamfer, and similar elements breaking the blind panels that form the expressive solution of the whole.

The quality of the finishes and the meticulousness of the functional interior spaces, now completely altered on the ground floor by the presence of various commercial premises, must be highlighted in this work.
