In 1935 the architect José Enrique Marrero Regalado was commissioned to build a multi-use building (cinema, performance hall and housing on the upper floor) for the businessman Ramón Baudet, to be located in the extension of the Rambla de Pulido, above Plaza de La Paz.

This project allowed Marrero to put into practice many of the solutions he had learned during his professional period in Madrid regarding the design of performance halls: large stages, decoration, interior ambience and particular design of various elements and furniture. Until that date, no performance venue of the scale required by this project had been built in Santa Cruz.

The building was precisely designed in all its elements, both the conception of the rationalist façade made of concrete, and the expressionist interior, where its detailed decoration, furniture and various innovative lighting ensembles for that time stood out.

The Baudet Theatre was inaugurated in 1944.

After ceasing to serve its original function, the former cinema became a bingo hall, now disused. For a time, one of the premises on the ground floor of the building housed the Librería del Cabildo de Tenerife (Tenerife Island Council Bookshop).
