Llombet House
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Civil architecture · Year: 1937 · Authors: José Enrique Marrero Regalado
This building was designed in 1937 by the architect Enrique Marrero Regalado as a single-family home for Miguel Llombet, owner of a splendid plot located at the corner of the Rambla and 25 de Julio.
The proposal was for a two-storey house with a lateral tower, a garden adapted to the corner, and a façade with baroque evocations featuring mouldings and fanciful finials.
It was Marrero's first attempt to leave aside rationalist principles and venture into an architecture based on historicist elements or regional typology that dominated the post-war period in the Canary Islands.
